Retaining wall repair

As a trusted retaining wall contractor serving the Dallas / Fort Worth areas for over fifteen years we’ve seen a lot of different projects.  A common project is replacing old retaining walls made from railroad ties.  While railroad ties are often economical they have a variety of issues.  Because they’re wooden they’re prone to rot and weaken.  They can also attract termites and other pests.  This makes them a poor choice for a retaining wall next to a home.  For these reasons an old retaining wall made from railroad ties is something you replace, not repair.

Replacing a railroad tie retaining wall

The photo below is a retaining wall project we completed in Colleyville, Texas.  This homeowner had an old retaining wall around their home made from railroad ties.  The wall had rotted and was weak.  It had also become an eyesore for the property and landscaping.

Benefits of a stone retaining wall

After removing the rotten retaining wall we installed a new stone wall made from chopped silver mist stone.  Stone is one of the best materials for retaining walls.  Unlike railway ties, stone doesn’t rot or attract termites.  Stone also adds a natural lasting beauty to any landscape.  With proper installation you can count on your stone retaining wall to last for years and years.
