Taking Down the Old Wall
We started by carefully tearing out the existing crosstie wall. It’s not the fastest job, but being careful means we don’t damage the surrounding landscaping. Once the old ties were out, we loaded them up and hauled them away so the yard was clean and ready for the next step.
Building with Milsap Stone
For the new wall, we went with chopped Milsap stone. It’s a natural stone that holds up extremely well in our North Texas weather, and it has a warm, rustic look that fits perfectly with the property. After stabilizing the base, we set each stone by hand, checking for a snug fit and level placement as we went.
When it was done, the difference was dramatic—solid, beautiful, and built to stand for decades. The homeowner told us it completely changed the way their backyard feels.
Why Stone Was the Right Choice
Switching from crosstie to stone brings a few big benefits:
-
No rot or decay – stone lasts much longer than wood
-
Better curb appeal – adds beauty from the street and the yard
-
Low maintenance – no need for regular sealing or repairs
-
Strong support – holds soil in place and prevents erosion
